HISTORY

The school being the oldest public elementary school in the town of  Imus was first named as Imus Elementary School. It was established during the American Period in 1898 and built its first structure in  Eastern Poblacion beside “Cuartel”, a Spanish fortress then, now serves as Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Headquarters in a place called “Hacienda” (Roberto “Oby”R. Castaňeda in his local history book entitled “Imus”)

The first batch of its alumni graduated in 1904.

In 1915, Mr. Francisco Topacio Medina donated a part of his rice field located along  Nueno Avenue, Poblacion, Imus, Cavite to the Local Government under the mayor ship of Hon. Cecilio Kamantigue. The land was purposively for the transfer of the school and for the education of the young Imuseňos. Imus Elementary School was one of the recipients of the Gabaldon School Building which was built in 1929 during the American colonization. It was the pioneer building originally facing north because of the main road. This one-storey five-room building was slightly elevated above the ground. Its rooms were divided by a collapsible wooden partition that could be folded and converted into an assembly hall.

During the Japanese occupation, the Gabaldon School Building was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers.

In the early 1950’s, the adjoining land was donated by the Tirona-Benitez Family where the Home Economics Building was built and named after the family  matriarch,  Doňa Francisca Tirona Benitez. Due to increase of enrolment, the Local Government headed by Hon. Dominador M. Camerino bought the nearby rice field for school expansion. The Gabaldon School Building was reconstructed from north facing south as more additional buildings were erected to accommodate the learners.  Hence, the school has the biggest campus in the entire Schools Division of Imus City now with 42,677 square meters/ 4.2677 hec.

It was in the School Year 1960-1961 when Imus Elementary School was selected as a pilot project after the evaluative criteria were accomplished and submitted to the Instruction Division of the defunct Bureau of Public Schools. This was during the administration of the late Mr. Leon T. Mediran, the District Supervisor, and the late Mrs. Felisa Ramirez, the Principal. Thus, the school was named “Imus Pilot Elementary School”. The new name gave privilege to the school to be the pilot school or recipient of innovative programs and projects set by the government in the education system.

Presently, Imus Pilot Elementary School caters Online Distance Learning –Synchronous (ODL), Printed Modular Distance Learning (PMDL) and Blended Learning Modality (BLM) from Kindergarten, Grades 1-6, and Special Education (SPED) to Alternative Learning System (ALS) anchored to K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum mandated by the Department of Education.
